Biography
Briawna Anderson is passionate about the intersection of studying and making music. As a harpist and pianist, she performs regularly and in a variety of genres. She is a music lead at St. Mary’s of Park City, where she collaborates with the choir and community in solo and ensemble performances. As a member of the instrumental group Theta Naught, she has toured the country, produced multiple recordings, and been featured twice as a SXSW showcase artist in Austin, TX. Briawna is also passionate about music research and co-runs the Composer Discovery Initiative, which seeks to publish, perform, and record music on the margins. Her independent research on representation in opera has been presented around the country, and she recently completed a residency at the University of Alaska, where she helped students in the Indigenous Studies department explore the forgotten stories in an American operatic biopic. She sits on the Liturgical Commission for the Diocese of Salt Lake and uses her knowledge of music history to help shape the future of worship music in Utah. She co-hosts the podcast Your Own Adventure, which seeks to help young performing artists explore pathways for careers in the arts.
