Our approach

Here, flute instruction is designed to inspire excellence, creativity, and a lifelong love for music. Beginning as young as 4 years old, students are nurtured in a supportive and enriching environment where they can develop their skills from the first note to the highest levels of artistry. With world-class instruction, students receive a holistic music education that includes private lessons, chamber music, group classes, recitals, and masterclasses, allowing them to explore every facet of their musical journey.

Whether your child is a young beginner in our Suzuki program, a pre-college student aiming for top-level performance, or an adult continuing their musical passion, flute lessons at Peterson School of Music are tailored to meet each student’s unique abilities and goals. Here, students grow not only as musicians but as confident, disciplined, and joyful contributors to the world of music.

What to expect

Weekly lessons

15 in the fall semester, 17 in the spring, with holiday breaks included

Summer
lessons

Flexible schedule, with a minimum of six lessons required to retain a spot in the studio

In-person format

While in-person lessons are preferred, remote lessons are available based on teacher discretion

Lesson durations

30, 45, and 60 minutes are common, with extended 75 or 90-minute lessons for advanced students

Studio recitals

Each semester includes a performance opportunity for students to showcase their progress

Who our lessons are for

We offer world-class training for students of all ages and levels, from young beginners to adults—our oldest student is 90!

Most of our programs are designed to support growth from preschool through high school graduation, we provide an integrated pathway for musical and personal development. Every program contributes to our goal of fostering future community leaders, engaged citizens, and passionate musicians.

What students will learn

Students will develop a strong foundation in both technical skill and musical artistry. From learning how to master breath control, embouchure, (proper mouth shape) and finger placement, each lesson is tailored to help students produce a clear, beautiful tone. Student will also learning proper articulation and tonguing to be able to start and stop notes cleanly

Through personalized instruction and ensemble experiences, students explore a variety of musical styles, improve their articulation, and build confidence as performers. With a focus on nurturing growth, creativity, and joy in music.

Lesson costs

Tuition for flute lessons varies depending on the instructor and the length of the lesson. Detailed tuition ranges by department are available here. This allows families to choose the best fit for their needs. The lesson package includes all regular lessons, studio recitals, and group performance opportunities, providing a well-rounded musical education.

Our school’s mission is to help as many students as possible experience the joy of music, regardless of financial constraints. We offer several need-based and merit-based scholarships. We would love to have you apply.

  • Gabriel Gutierrez

    With a rich background in both performance and education, Gabriel Gutierrez brings his passion for flute to Gifted Music School. A graduate of the University of Texas at El Paso and Bowling Green State University, Gabriel has performed with esteemed ensembles like the El Paso Symphony, Salt Lake Symphony, and Salt Lake Choral Artists. His dedication to excellence is evident in his diverse experience, from winning concerto competitions to participating in masterclasses with renowned flutists. Gabriel’s expertise and enthusiasm inspire students to grow as both musicians and artists.
